Over the long weekend I had the chance to make attempt number two for my entry into Copic Marker’s Spring Wide plein air competition. This type of art is quite different from my usual style, and I learned a lot.
For this version I decided to leave out the background traffic. I also felt free to pull in the various elements I liked from within my field of vision, rather than making a literal representation of what I saw. I think this represents a big improvement over the first attempt.
While I don’t expect to become a landscape artist, I found this exercise to be useful and enjoyable, and I am glad to have broken the ice in terms of drawing and coloring in public.
